Mephedrone Worth ₹11.4 Lakh Seized in Nana Peth; Two Arrested by Crime Branch Pune (representational Image )
Pune: The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Crime Branch arrested two individuals in Nana Peth while they were preparing to sell mephedrone. The police seized 57 grams of the drug, valued at ₹11.4 lakh. The arrested individuals have been identified as Adib Bashir Shaikh (29, resident of Pensionwala Masjid area, Nana Peth) and Yasir Hashir Sayyed (30, resident of Mithanagar, Kondhwa).
While patrolling the Nana Peth area, the Anti-Narcotics Squad received a tip-off from police constable Azad Patil that Adib Shaikh and Yasir Sayyed were preparing to sell mephedrone. Acting on this information, the police laid a trap and apprehended the duo. A total of 57 grams of mephedrone was seized from them, with an estimated market value of ₹11.4 lakh. In addition to the drugs, police confiscated assets worth ₹13.42 lakh from the accused.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner Rajendra Mulik. The team included Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad, Assistant Inspector Nitinkumar Naik, and officers Azad Patil, Mayur Suryavanshi, Sahil Shaikh, Sandeep Jadhav, Uday Raksh, Yogesh Mandhre, Yuvraj Kamble, Imran Shaikh, and Kalyan Borate.
