The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced a new lottery to be held between March and June 2024. The lottery will offer 20,000 housing units across Mumbai, Pune, and the Konkan region, aiming to address the growing demand for affordable homes.

The announcement was made by MHADA Vice-President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal during a lottery event in Mumbai. At the event, over 1 lakh applicants vied for 2,030 flats, which were allocated through a transparent and automated system known as the Integrated Housing Lottery Management System (IHLMS 2.0). The event took place at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, attended virtually by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

In this upcoming lottery, housing prices have been reduced for all income groups. Homes under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will be cheaper by 25%, Lower Income Group (LIG) by 20%, Middle Income Group (MIG) by 15%, and Higher Income Group (HIG) by 10%.
