Miniature Traffic Park in Aundh set up by PMC

Traffic violation is increasingly catching the eye of traffic Police department in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad limits. Various efforts are being on made on festivals to educate people on traffic violations and rules. However, in first of its kind, the Pune Municipal Corporation has built a traffic park in Aundh, at Bremen chowk. The traffic park is said to built on a 200 meter stretch owned by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited.

The traffic park is built to educate children from 0 – 10 years old about traffic and driving rules on the road. The linear park has all the elements of the actual roads in Pune, like traffic signals, footpaths, cycle tracks, circles, speed box and breakers. Along with the road facility, the model will also have five bicycles for children to get a view of driving mechanism on roads.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Dinkar Gojare, a PMC Official who has initiated the development of the model, said, “This miniature traffic park is third such model, after Nashik and Thane. Although, the models in Nashik and Thane are a bit bigger and open for all age groups. Our Aundh model is first in the Pune district.”

PMC has been receiving a lot of positive feedbacks from the citizens, RTO and Pune Traffic Police department. This park will be open for kids and their teachers or parents. No other entries to the park will be allowed apart from education visit for children. Close to 1 – 1.5 crore rupees was put into building the park. However, there uncertainty over the entry fees to the park. PMC is planning to impose 5 rupees per entry, as an option for covering maintenance cost.
