Minor Girl Murdered Day Before Sister’s Engagement in Pune’s Khed Area
A shocking crime has surfaced in Khed in the Pune district. A minor girl was found murdered just a day before her elder sister’s engagement. The incident has left the family devastated, turning a moment of joy into tragedy.
The body of the minor, a college student, was found in the Bhima River near Manjarewadi on Saturday afternoon. She had been missing since Friday. According to Khed police, she was a student at Hutatma Rajguru College and had gone to attend college that morning. Around 11:30 am, she was seen waiting on the Pabal road to return home.
At that time, accused Navnath Kailas Manjare (29), a resident of Manjarewadi-Dharm, approached her. He allegedly offered to drop her home and took her on his two-wheeler. On the way, he told her he needed to water his sugarcane farm. He then took her via the Manjarewadi-Pimpal-Malghewadi road to his farm near the river.
There, he allegedly tried to sexually assault her. When she resisted, he struck her on the head with a stone. After killing her, he dragged the body and dumped it into the Bhima riverbed.

Police quickly launched an investigation and arrested Manjare. A local court has remanded him in police custody for eight days. Police Sub-Inspector Snehal Raje said a post-mortem report is awaited to confirm if a sexual assault took place.
The incident has deeply shocked the family. The girl’s elder sister was scheduled to get engaged on Sunday. What was supposed to be a day of celebration turned into heartbreak as the younger sister was murdered the previous day.
