New Delhi: In a significant push for Pune Metro expansion, Union Minister of State for Cooperation and BJP Pune Lok Sabha MP Murlidhar Mohol met Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi to discuss fast-tracking key approvals for proposed metro routes.

Acknowledging Pune’s rapid urban growth, Mohol emphasized the need to accelerate metro infrastructure projects to meet the city’s increasing demands. The discussion focused on obtaining Union Cabinet approval for the extended metro corridors—Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi. These extensions, for which MahaMetro has prepared detailed development plans, have already received clearance from the Maharashtra government and the Public Investment Board (PIB) as of March 11, 2025. Final approval from the Union Cabinet is now awaited.

In addition, Mohol highlighted the necessity of advancing proposals for other strategic corridors, including the Kharadi–Hadapsar–Swargate–Khadakwasla line and the Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug connector. Both routes have secured state-level approval and are pending clearances from the inter-ministerial committee and PIB.
