Mosquito menace on rise in Wanawadi

Residents of Wanawadi, mainly around Tatya Tope housing society, have been complaining about rise in mosquito menace. Radhika Poduval, a resident of Silver Valley complained to Pune Pulse that for the past few months mosquito breeding has increased in our area nearing the water bodies.
Another resident of the area, Manisha Kasture informed that there is nullah besides our society which leads to constant breeding of mosquitoes. PMC should fumigate the area frequently.

When Pune Pulse raised the issue with Ganpat Shinde, inspector, malaria surveillance, Wanawadi Ramtekdi ward office, Pune municipal corporation, he said, “I shall send someone to fumigate the areas where mosquito breeding is on rise.”
Sandeep Solanki, a resident of Kumar Prasanna said, “Mosquito menace is definitely on rise in our area. Pune Municipal Corporation is being ignorant in the issues of mosquito breeding. Even after raising them with the concerned officials nothing has happened till date. We have several senior citizens, children in the society who are getting affected due to these mosquitoes. We have been spending money from our pocket to get fumigation done within the society.”
