MSRTC Pune Division To Get Four New Electric Bus Charging Stations

MSRTC Strengthens Driver Training And Mental Health Checks After Fatal Kurla Bus Accident
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) Pune division is set to expand its electric bus (e-bus) fleet with the addition of four new charging stations. The new charging stations will be located at the Alandi, Dapodi, Indapur, and Manchar ST depots in the Pune division.
Currently, the MSRTC Pune division has 66 e-buses that are charged at the Swargate ST stand and the main head office premises at Shankarsheth Road. The new charging stations will enable the MSRTC to add more e-buses to its fleet and improve the frequency of services across ST stands in the Pune division.
As part of its plans to go green, the MSRTC aims to add around 5,000 e-buses to its fleet phase-wise. Out of these, 200 e-buses will be allocated to the MSRTC Pune division. The e-buses will operate under the name ‘e-Shivai’.
The MSRTC has already started e-bus services on several routes, including Pune-Nagar, Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Kolhapur, and Solapur.
The work on electric charging stations has started at the Alandi, Dapodi, Indapur, and Manchar ST depots. As more e-buses are added to the MSRTC fleet, more charging stations would come up.
