Tragedy has struck Bollywood director Ashwini Dhir, known for films like ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ and ‘Son Of Sardar.’ He has lost his 18-year-old son, Jalaj Dhir, in a car accident. Jalaj was meant to accompany his father to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) for the screening of their movie ‘Hisaab Barabar,’ but fate had different plans.

Reports indicate that Jalaj was in a car with three friends when the accident occurred. The crash resulted in the deaths of Jalaj and one other passenger. It has been suggested that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The car was reportedly traveling at speeds between 120-150 mph when it hit the divider separating the service road from the bridge at Vile Parle. Both Jalaj and his friend Sarthak Kaushik lost their lives in this tragic event, while their other friend, Jimmy, alerted the police, leading to the arrest of the driver, Sahil Mendha.

According to an Amar Ujala report, Jalaj had hosted his three friends at his home in Goregaon East, where they played video games until 3:30 am before heading out for a drive. They stopped for dinner at Sidgi in Bandra and got back in the car around 4:10 am. Reports suggest that Sahil lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash that left him and Jimmy with minor injuries, while Jalaj and Sarthak sustained fatal injuries.
