Mumbai Female Teacher Arrested for Grooming, Drugging, and Sexually Assaulting Male Student Over One Year

A 40-year-old English teacher from a reputed Mumbai school has been taken into custody following allegations of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old male student repeatedly over the past year. The accused, who is married and a mother, reportedly used a combination of emotional manipulation, drugs, and alcohol to coerce the teenager into a series of abusive encounters.
Investigations reveal that the teacher first developed an inappropriate attraction towards the boy during preparations for the school’s annual function in late 2023. She allegedly made her first sexual advances by January 2024. When the student initially resisted and started avoiding her, the teacher enlisted the help of a close female friend, not affiliated with the school, who encouraged the boy to accept the relationship, claiming such affairs between older women and teenage boys were common and that the two were “made for each other.”
The abuse escalated as the teacher would pick the student up in her car, take him to secluded locations, and sexually assault him. She reportedly gave him anti-anxiety medication without medical supervision when he showed signs of distress. Additionally, the teacher would intoxicate the boy before taking him to luxury five-star hotels in South Mumbai and near the airport, where the assaults continued.
The victim’s family noticed a marked change in his behavior but chose to remain silent initially, hoping the situation would end once he finished school. However, after the student graduated and the teacher attempted to contact him again through her domestic staff, the family decided to approach the police.
The police have registered multiple charges against the woman, including sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and the Indian Penal Code. Her friend who allegedly helped facilitate the abuse is also under arrest.
Authorities have seized the teacher’s vehicle for further investigation and are currently examining her digital communications and past interactions with students for any additional evidence of misconduct or grooming. The school has suspended the accused and issued a statement affirming their cooperation with law enforcement and support for the survivor.
A senior police official condemned the teacher’s actions, emphasizing the serious violation of trust and professional ethics. “She used her role as a mentor to exploit a vulnerable child, which is a grave breach of both moral and legal boundaries,” the officer said.
