Mumbai Monorail Breaks Down During Heavy Rains Following Power Failure; Rescue Ops in Progress – VIDEO
Mumbai, August 19: Mumbai Monorail services were severely disrupted on Tuesday evening after a train suffered a power supply failure near Mysore Colony station, leaving several passengers stranded.
The incident occurred at around 6:15 pm when the monorail came to a halt between Chembur and Bhakti Park stations. Passengers immediately alerted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s emergency helpline (1916) for assistance.

Responding swiftly, the Mumbai Fire Brigade deployed three snorkel vehicles and carried out rescue operations, ensuring the safe evacuation of passengers. Meanwhile, operations and maintenance teams were rushed to the site to restore services at the earliest.
To minimise inconvenience, monorail services between Wadala and Chembur continue to run on a single line.
Since August 15, heavy rainfall has battered Mumbai, leading to widespread waterlogging, disrupted train services, flight delays, and traffic snarls across several parts of the city.
