Mumbai Pune Expressway : Police bust drug racket, seven arrested

Mumbai, July 13 : The Anti Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police has busted a drug peddling racket was active on Mumbai Pune Expressway and arrested 7 persons, including 2 women and 2 Nigerians, an official said here on Wednesday.

According to an official of the ANC, its Ghatkopar unit received an information that a drug racket allegedly was being operated by a mother-son duo.
A team of sleuths started keeping watch and on Monday-Tuesday night, the laid a trap at Dadar Pune taxi stand and apprehended the woman, who was found in possession of M.D (Mephedrone).
After questioning her, multiple locations were raided by the ANC in Kemps Corner (South Mumbai), Marve road (Malad) Mumbai, Virar (Palghar) and also in Pune.

The ANC has nabbed a total of seven accused persons, including two Nigerians and the two women.

The sleuths also seized 58.20 gms ‘M.D.’ & 15 gms ‘Cocaine’, collectively worth Rs 16,14,000, in the International markets.
Further probe is underway to trace the others involved in the inter-district drug peddling scam perpetrated via the Expressway.
