Mumbai: Siddhivinayak Temple Imposes Dress Code for Devotees: No Revealing Outfits Allowed
Mumbai’s famous Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple has announced a dress code for visitors. Starting next week, devotees must wear “decent clothing,”
preferably Indian attire, as per a notice issued by the temple trust. Those wearing revealing or inappropriate clothes will not be allowed inside the temple.
The Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust (SSGTT) stated that devotees in torn trousers, short skirts, or outfits exposing body parts will be denied entry. The move aims to maintain decorum within the temple premises.
The dress code was implemented after the trust received multiple complaints about inappropriate attire. Many devotees had expressed discomfort over certain outfits worn by visitors.
The temple sees thousands of worshippers daily, including tourists from across the country. Several visitors reportedly found certain clothing choices disrespectful in a place of worship.
In recent months, several temples across India have introduced dress codes. This has sparked debates on clothing choices at religious places.
The Siddhivinayak temple, located in Mumbai’s Prabhadevi area, is one of the most visited Hindu temples in the country. The new rule aims to ensure that devotees dress appropriately in the temple’s sacred atmosphere.
With the implementation of this dress code, temple authorities hope for a more respectful environment for all worshippers.
