Mumbai: Teacher Allegedly Sprays Colin on 8-Year-Old’s Private Part; School Ordered to Shut Down
A Nallasopara teacher faces serious allegations after spraying Colin on a second-grade student, prompting outrage and an official investigation by Palghar education authorities.
A shocking incident at a school in Nallasopara, a suburb near Mumbai, has raised serious questions about student safety and teacher conduct. On April 29, an eight-year-old student was allegedly subjected to an inhumane act by his class teacher, Nidah Nizauddin, who reportedly sprayed Colin, a household glass cleaner, on the child’s private parts after complaining about a foul smell in the classroom.
According to the child’s mother, Sonal Randive, only three students were present that day when the teacher allegedly accused her son of being the source of a bad odour. When he denied it, Nizauddin reportedly sprayed the chemical cleaner directly on his genitals. The boy cried in distress, but the teacher allegedly dismissed the act as a joke.
Randive immediately approached the school principal, Heena Sayyed, seeking accountability. However, her concerns were allegedly brushed aside. The principal reportedly described the teacher as “immature” and admitted that their institution did not require teachers to have formal qualifications such as a B.Ed degree, citing the school’s small size.
As public outrage grew, a formal complaint was lodged on July 23, nearly two months after the incident. In response, the Palghar Zilla Parishad initiated a Taluka-level inquiry. The Deputy Education Officer confirmed that a notice has been issued for the immediate closure of the school. He warned that if the school continues operations despite the order, an FIR would be registered.
Randive expressed relief at the swift administrative response but demanded justice and strict action to prevent similar incidents in the future. “Let the investigation conclude. We will act depending on the outcome,” she stated.
A follow-up meeting between concerned parents and district education officials is scheduled for July 31 at Mantralaya.
The incident has triggered public outrage on social media. Many have questioned how an institution with minimal infrastructure, allegedly operating from a single commercial space in a residential building, qualifies as a legitimate school. The Howard School, where the incident occurred, now faces intense scrutiny over its registration and adherence to child safety norms.
