Mumbai to Get Pod Taxi Service for Seamless Last-Mile Connectivity, Says CM Fadnavis
Mumbai, September 23, 2025 – In a move to enhance urban transport and address last-mile connectivity, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today directed the introduction of a pod taxi service for citizens. The announcement was made during a meeting on pod taxis held at Sahyadri Guest House.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the service would be particularly significant in the business district between Kurla and Bandra railway stations. With the upcoming bullet train station and the Mumbai High Court in the vicinity, commuter traffic is expected to rise sharply, putting pressure on existing transport systems. Pod taxis are envisioned as a reliable solution to provide seamless and timely transport in this high-density area.

Fadnavis emphasized the integration of the pod taxi service with the city’s single-card system, which will allow passengers to access all transport services, including pod taxis, through one card. He also instructed that development work around Kurla and Bandra stations be aligned with the pod taxi project. In Kurla, police residential spaces will be relocated nearby to accommodate the system, while buildings in the Bandra-Kurla Complex will be connected to stations via pod taxis.
The Chief Minister stressed that the service must meet global standards due to the commercial significance of the area. He also suggested optimizing existing skywalks to improve commuter accessibility.
The meeting was attended by prominent officials, including Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Metropolitan Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Sanjay Mukherjee, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Sanjay Sethi, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Aseem Kumar Gupta, and Principal Secretary (Home) Anup Kumar Singh. Presentations on the pod taxi plan were delivered by Mukherjee and Bharti.
