Mumbai: One of South Mumbai’s most beloved Parsi restaurants, Jimmy Boy, has shut its doors just months ahead of its milestone 100th anniversary. Nestled in the heritage precinct of Fort, the eatery was a cherished destination for locals and tourists alike, known for its authentic Parsi fare—Keema Pav, Brun Maska, Mava Cakes, and Irani chai among its staples.

The sudden closure came on June 20, when cracks were discovered in the building housing the restaurant. The structure, Vikas Premises, a ground-plus-four storey commercial building, was promptly reported to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) by a junior engineer from the civic body’s Building and Factory department as reported by Times of India.

In the interest of public safety, the BMC issued a formal evacuation notice and barred further occupancy until the building’s structural stability is assured. “All occupants have been directed to vacate immediately. Further operations in the building will remain suspended until detailed structural audits confirm safety,” a civic official stated.

For many, the closure marks not just the end of an eatery, but the loss of a cultural institution that served generations of Mumbai residents. Whether Jimmy Boy will reopen at a new location or after structural restoration remains uncertain.
