Pune | March 9, 2025 – Activists of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) [NCP (SP)] disrupted Pune Metro services today by jumping onto the tracks at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Metro Station around 12:45 PM. The protest led to a two-hour suspension of metro operations at the station, though services on other routes remained unaffected.

The protesters arrived at the station as regular passengers before suddenly leaping onto the tracks in groups of two to four to protest against unemployment. They then sat on the tracks and nearby safety barriers, disrupting metro operations.

Pune Metro’s security personnel acted swiftly, halting train movement to prevent any mishaps. Maha Metro officials rushed to the scene and alerted the police and fire department.

The Shivajinagar Police took all protesters into custody, and Pune Metro has filed an FIR against them.

During the protest, services at PMC Metro Station were suspended from 12:45 PM to 2:45 PM, but metro trains on Corridor 1 (Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate) and Corridor 2 (Ramwadi to District Court and Vanaz to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan) continued running smoothly.
