New traffic diversion to reduce congestion at Savitribai Phule Pune University chowk
To address the persistent traffic congestion at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk, experimental traffic modifications have been initiated. Commencing Monday (January 15), the route from Pune University Chowk to Baner will be reopened, offering a potential reprieve from the gridlock in this area.
Ongoing metro and road expansion projects in the Pune University Chowk vicinity had necessitated the closure of Baner Road since September. With certain project milestones achieved, the road leading to Baner will be reinstated, providing a welcomed relief for motorists heading in that direction.
For commuters traveling from Shivajinagar, a designated left lane prior to the pillar at Anand Rishiji Maharaj Chowk is advised, leading towards Pashan beyond the university. To access Baner, motorists are encouraged to utilize the left lane of Baner Road.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, City Traffic Branch, Shashikant Borate, suggests an alternative route for those approaching Anand Rishiji Maharaj Chowk from Pashan. By turning left at the Abhimanashree Society Junction on Pashan Road and navigating through Sakalnagar via Baner Road, a smoother journey to the university is anticipated.
