New Twist: Fresh Video Exposes Assault on Army Officer by SpiceJet Staff at Srinagar Airport

A newly emerged video from Srinagar Airport has added a major twist to the July 26 altercation between a senior Indian Army officer and SpiceJet staff, raising serious doubts about the earlier claim that the officer was the sole aggressor in what SpiceJet had termed a “murderous assault.”

What Happened on July 26?

The incident occurred at the boarding gate of SpiceJet flight SG-386 to Delhi, where the Army officer was reportedly carrying 16 kg of cabin baggage, more than double the allowed 7 kg limit. SpiceJet claimed that after he was stopped and asked to pay for excess baggage, the officer allegedly bypassed security, pushed CISF personnel, and launched a violent attack on four airline employees using his fists, kicks, and even a queue stand.

The airline alleged:

• One staffer collapsed unconscious
• Another suffered jaw injuries and facial bleeding
• Staffer Mudasir Ahmad Khan reportedly sustained a spinal fracture

SpiceJet submitted CCTV footage and filed an FIR, also seeking the officer’s inclusion on the no-fly list. The incident was painted as an unprovoked and violent assault.

The Twist: New CCTV Footage Emerges

However, new CCTV footage now under investigation suggests a different version of events. The video reportedly shows Mudasir Ahmad Khan initiating the physical confrontation, allegedly lunging at the Army officer first. This raises the possibility that the officer may have acted in self-defence, flipping the earlier narrative on its head.

Statements and Reactions

Despite the footage, Khan maintains his stance:

“He shouted when I stopped him. He refused to pay for excess baggage. Then he hit me with his bag and used fists and feet to attack me.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has responded with restraint, issuing a statement confirming:

• It is cooperating with the authorities
• It remains committed to maintaining discipline and order
