Nita Ambani Launches New Health Seva Plan to Benefit Over 100,000 Women and Children
Through the New Health Seva Plan, the Reliance Foundation continues its mission to enhance healthcare accessibility and outcomes for women and children, promoting a healthier future for Indian society.
On Saturday, Nita Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, unveiled the New Health Seva Plan as part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. This ambitious initiative aims to provide essential medical screenings and treatments for women, children, and adolescent girls, significantly impacting over 100,000 individuals from marginalized communities.
Key Features of the New Health Seva Plan:
• Congenital Heart Disease Treatment: The plan intends to offer cost-free diagnosis and treatment services for congenital heart disease to 50,000 children.
• Cancer Screening: An equal number of women will have access to comprehensive screenings for breast and cervical cancer at no cost.
• Cervical Cancer Vaccination: The initiative will also include free cervical cancer vaccinations for 10,000 teenage girls, aiming to prevent future cases of this critical health issue.
Nita Ambani’s Vision:
During the launch, Ambani emphasized the hospital’s commitment to making world-class healthcare accessible and affordable to every Indian. She stated, “For 10 years, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital has been driven by our vision to make world-class healthcare accessible and affordable to every Indian. Together, we have touched millions of lives and offered hope to countless families. We believe that good health is the foundation of a prosperous nation, and healthy women and children are the bedrock of a thriving society.”
Impact of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital:
Since its inception, the hospital has positively impacted around 2.75 million lives, including over 150,000 children. It has established itself as a leading multi-specialty hospital in India, performing significant medical achievements such as over 500 organ transplants, with a remarkable record of completing six transplants in a single day.
The hospital is recognized for its commitment to quality care, holding accreditations from the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH). Additionally, it is acknowledged as Mumbai’s largest Gold Certified Green Hospital.
The Need for Timely Medical Intervention:
A recent study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) highlights the critical nature of early diagnosis in improving survival rates, particularly for conditions like congenital heart disease and cancers prevalent in India. Breast cancer accounts for more than 25% of all female cancers in the country, while the projected burden of cervical cancer in India for 2025 could reach 1.5 million disability-adjusted life years, underscoring the urgent need for preventive health measures like screenings and vaccinations.
