No Face App, No Salary: Maharashtra Govt Makes Digital Attendance Compulsory For Revenue Employees
Mumbai, July 25, 2025:
Revenue Department employees in Maharashtra will be required to mark their attendance via the Face App starting August, failing which they will not receive their salaries for the month, state Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced on Wednesday. The salaries will be processed in September based on compliance with this new attendance rule.
This directive comes in line with the central government’s mandate to introduce Face App-based attendance systems and geo-fencing for revenue staff. A formal Government Resolution (GR) enforcing this requirement will be issued shortly.
Speaking at a departmental review meeting in Raigad, Minister Bawankule said, “The objective is to improve transparency, administrative efficiency, and ensure citizen-centric service delivery. Over the next 150 days, our focus will be on implementing major reforms with proper planning.”
The minister also addressed concerns regarding delayed case resolutions. He stated that he has personally resolved over 800 cases in the past four months and urged officers to ensure that no quasi-judicial matters remain pending under their jurisdiction.
Bawankule recommended the use of public forums like Lok Adalats to address citizen grievances and directed Tehsildars and land records officers to fast-track dispute resolutions at the local level, thereby reducing the need for citizens to approach the Mantralaya.
He also encouraged revenue officials to undertake innovative initiatives that can improve overall service delivery and governance standards within the department.
