Pune, 11 July 2025: In a welcome move for cultural enthusiasts, Pune Police have assured that no legal action will be taken this year against traditional percussion instruments like dhol and tasha during Ganeshotsav celebrations. The assurance was given by Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma at a symbolic “Dhol-Tasha Pujan” ceremony organized by the Dhol-Tasha Mahasangh Maharashtra at the historic Kasba Ganpati temple.

“If any pending cases exist against traditional instruments, we will ensure they are withdrawn. This year, no new cases will be registered. Just as we successfully curbed the use of laser lights last year, we are now focusing on restricting DJs to maintain cultural sanctity,” Sharma stated.

The event, aimed at promoting harmony and discipline during the festivities, was attended by senior police officials, Ganeshotsav mandal leaders, and members of several dhol-tasha troupes. Notable attendees included DCP Krishikesh Rawale, Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Trust President Sunil Rasne, Treasurer Mahesh Suryawanshi, Chief Trustee of Kasba Ganpati Mandir Vinayak Thakar, and Mahasangh President Parag Thakur.
