A message stating that the wedding organisers must share their guest list as well as video clips of the wedding related functions to the local police or Pune Municipal Corporation was widely circulated over social media platforms which is fake.

Members of the Maharashtra Catering Association recently met Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar and discussed several problems that were occuring to the members and catering industry experts in the last few months.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Kishor Sarpotdar, president, Maharashtra Catering Association said, “The Catering Association of Pune (CAP) has demanded the government to increase the capacity of wedding attendees from 50 to 200; adhering to following SOP prescribed by the government. The misleading news circulated by the leading news mediums in the state led to the spread of misconception on wedding guests including (service providers such as photographers, videographers, music performers, compere etc). Another misconception that led to confusion was that the organizer need to submit the footage of the event. ”

Sarpotdar shared that the PMC Commissioner said these are all fake news.  He also said that there is no need for the wedding organizers to submit the guest list prior to the wedding. While talking about the limitation on the number of guests allowed in a wedding (maximum 50), the association said that it spoke with the commissioner and demanded the corporation to increase the number of guest list from 50 to 200 people.
Kishor Sarpotdar said, “We are ready to operate and manage such weddings with Standard Operating Procedure prescribed by the central and the state government of India.”

He further said, “If the central government has given the permission for 200 people in a wedding ceremony then why is the state government still stuck on just 50 attendees? How can we operate a hall that holds capacity of 500 people, by serving only 50?”
