YesMadam, a leading home beauty services platform, addressed the controversy sparked by a viral email that suggested over 100 employees were fired for admitting stress in a workplace survey.

The company clarified in an official statement that no terminations occurred, and the email was part of a planned campaign to shed light on workplace stress issues.

The controversy began when excerpts of an internal communication surfaced online, leading to widespread criticism. The uproar started when a screenshot of an internal email leaked online, revealing that YesMadam’s HR department had informed employees that those who indicated high levels of stress in a survey would be terminated. This revelation ignited considerable anger and raised questions about the company’s policies.

The company issued a three-page statement on LinkedIn, expressing regret for the “distress” caused by a viral email revealing the abrupt termination of stressed employees.

Apologizing for any distress caused, YesMadam emphasized its commitment to employee welfare, likening its staff to family. They explained that affected employees were encouraged to rest and recharge rather than being dismissed. The company announced a new wellness initiative, Happy 2 Heal, aimed at fostering mental health awareness and support in the workplace.

The company elaborated on its unconventional marketing approach, stating that it aims to shift the focus from productivity to employee well-being through the launch of its corporate initiative, ‘Happy 2 Heal’.

“We firmly believe that the backbone of any great organization is not built on stressed shoulders but on happy minds. So, let’s make employee well-being the new norm. Let’s create businesses that thrive on care, collaboration, and compassion. Over to you, Corporate & Startup India. Let’s walk this path together,” says the statement issued by the firm.

YesMadam noted that the misunderstanding highlighted the importance of dialogue on workplace stress, thanking the public for raising concerns.

This incident underscores the need for clear communication around sensitive topics and showcases YesMadam’s attempt to use the situation as an opportunity to prioritize employee well-being.

YesMadam’s recent update and apology following the viral email controversy appear to have had minimal impact on those who are still dissatisfied. Numerous social media users have criticized the initiative, calling it a “poor PR move” and a “misguided campaign.”
