As the world is stepping ahead to put an end to the use of petrol and diesel, with what appears to be a step towards minimising pollution, there has been growing awareness on giving up the source of pollution for the health and environment.

However, following the similar footsteps, the Bavdhan based citizens group, Bavdhan Citizen Forum (BCF), has initiated an idea of taking a pledge of putting off the engine of your vehice on the first sunday of every month. The group is leading from the front to initiate another ‘No vehicle day’ on the coming December 6.

Speaking with Dushyant Bhatia who initiated this initiative with Deepa Prabhu, he informed Pune Pulse, “The reason behind this initiative was to reduce the rising pollution level in the city. Bavdhan is entry point to Pune and hence we cannot really stop people from entering city through vehicles, but we can at least balance out the local traffic. Secondly, walking or making use of bicycle to travel nearby location can only result in simpler and healthy lifestyle. “
