  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Grated coconut – 1 cup
  • Jaggery – ¾ cup
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
  • Water – 1 cup
  • A pinch of salt

Method:

  1. Stuffing: Heat ghee, add grated coconut and jaggery. Cook on low flame until mixed. Add cardamom powder. Let it cool.
  2. Dough: Boil water with salt and ghee. Add rice flour, mix well, and steam for a few minutes. Knead into a smooth dough while warm.
  3. Shaping: Make small balls, flatten, and fill with coconut-jaggery stuffing. Shape into dumplings by hand or with a mould.
  4. Steaming: Place on a greased banana leaf or cloth and steam for 10–12 minutes.

Tips:

  • Knead the dough while warm.
  • Keep dough covered with a damp cloth to avoid drying.
  • Do not overcook jaggery; it will harden.
