Old Hand Grenade Found At Air Force Labour Camp In Pune Safely Defused
Pune | April 23, 2025: An old, rusted hand grenade discovered at the Air Force labour camp playground in Pune was safely defused on Wednesday afternoon, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the Pune City Police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and Air Force Police.

The grenade was first reported around 12:30 PM by Air Force Security Officer Lokendra Singh, who spotted the suspicious object on the premises. Authorities immediately responded, with teams from the Airport Police Station, BDDS, and Air Force Police reaching the site to assess the situation.
Following a thorough inspection, the area was evacuated and the grenade was safely relocated to a secure spot, where it was neutralized using controlled explosives.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yerawada Division) Pranjali Sonawane. Police Inspector (Crime) Ashalata Khapare, PSI Rathod, Inspector Yele, and the BDDS team led the on-ground operation, ensuring there was no threat to public safety.
Authorities praised the quick action and coordination among the departments involved in safely handling the potentially dangerous situation.
