Panic Mid-Air As IndiGo Flight Hit By Hailstorm, Lands Safely With 220 Passengers In Srinagar With Damaged Nose

Srinagar, May 21: Passengers onboard IndiGo flight 6E2142 experienced a terrifying ordeal on Tuesday evening after the aircraft encountered severe turbulence caused by a hailstorm while approaching Srinagar.
The flight, which had taken off from Delhi, was preparing to land in Srinagar when it flew into extreme weather conditions. The turbulence severely damaged the aircraft’s nose cone, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency with Air Traffic Control (ATC).
Despite the frightening situation and visible damage to the aircraft, the flight crew successfully landed the plane at Srinagar Airport at approximately 6.30 pm. Passengers recounted scenes of panic and distress as the aircraft shook violently mid-air.
All passengers and crew were safely evacuated after landing. IndiGo officials have confirmed that no injuries were reported, and the matter is under investigation.
Authorities are assessing the damage and reviewing the flight data to understand the full impact of the incident.
