‘Pay and Park’ to be rolled out by PCMC from March 1

After two long years, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will finally roll out its much awaited policy – ‘Pay and Park – after the standing committee has cleared the plan to implement the parking policy in the city, as informed by the Joint City Engineer, Shrikant Savane.

According to the information given by Savane and BRTS Spokesperson, Vijay Bhojane, the work order has been given to a contractor from Navi Mumbai, who holds experience of implementing the policy. Additional details suggest that the PCMC will receive 50 % of the pay collected by the Private player.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Shrikant Savane suggested that the roads in the Pimpri Chinchwad are congested due to the flow of vehicles that is obstructed by the commercial vehicles that are parked anywhere the owner wishes, without even caring for the vehicular movement.

This initiative will help the civic body monitor the parking online, while keeping the contractor repsonsible for the maintenance of the parking lot. PCMC has revised the fares for the parking as below:

Two wheelers – 5 ₹
Auto-rickshaw- 5 ₹
Four wheeler – 10 ₹
Tempo – 15 ₹
Mini Bus – 25 ₹
Truck – 100 ₹
Private Bus – 100 ₹

PCMC has also revealed the plan of implementing the police in the six parts of the city.

As per the information provided by Vijay Bhojane, the zones are divided into six parts.

In the part 1 the below routes are given below:
Kasarwadi and Dapodi Railway station area, Nigdi-Tilak Chowk to Pradhikaran Big India Chowk, Nigdi-Walhekarwadi Spine road, Chinchwad, Pimpri, Akurdi, Old Pune Mumbai road.

In the part 2 the below routes are given below:
Chinchwad to Walhekarwadi Road, Chinchwad station to Hinjewadi, BRTS Route from Kalewadi Phata to Auto Cluster.

In the part 3 the below routes are given below:

KSB Chowk to Chinchwad station, Empire Estate to Dehu-Alandi, Nigdi to Moshi Bhosari Pradhikaran Spine Road.

In the part 4 the below routes are given below:

Thergaon Gavthan, Thergaon Phata to Link road, Aundh Ravet BRTS Road.

In the part 5 the below routes are given below:
Telco road, Nashik Phata – Moshi road.

In the Part 6, the below routes are given:

Nigdi Bhakti Shakti Chowk.

The spaces below fly over too will be used in the implementation.
