PCMC issues showcause notice to three hospitals

The increasing number of Covid19 patients in the city, has led to a rise in demand of remedesivir injections too. But despite having adequate stock of injections at several reputed hospitals in the city, many patients were kept in waiting to avail these injections. Also, these injections were sold at a higher rate than its original price.
After the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation was apprised of the situation, the civic body acted against the complaints raised by several needy patients and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil has initiated show cause notice to three hospitals from the twin town. These hospitals are Aditya Birla hospital, Lokmanya hospital and D Y Patil hospital are some of them which were issued these notices.
The notices are being sent to the director and chief executive officer and health superintendent and dean of the hospital. The show cause notice also states that why corporation cannot take any action against such hoarding of medicines.
These hospitals are asked to answer within 48 hours about the allegations. They have been sent notices under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic Control Act, 1897.
