PCMC Sanctions ₹7 Crore For Electric Buses, Launches Medical Courses and Civic Upgrades
Pimpri, January 16, 2025: In a special meeting, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Administrator Shekhar Singh approved various key proposals aimed at improving civic services, healthcare, and environmental initiatives. Significant among these was the allocation of ₹7 crore to PMPML for the purchase of 14 electric buses under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP).
The meeting also approved starting postgraduate diploma courses at municipal hospitals in collaboration with the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi. This initiative will enhance the quality of healthcare services and ensure the availability of specialized doctors.
Key decisions include:
- Provision of internet bandwidth services to PCMC schools and offices under the e-learning project.
- Installation of eco-friendly air pollution control systems at Morwadi crematorium.
- Deployment of CCTV systems in B, F, G, and H ward areas.
- Measures for mosquito, rodent, and pest control in municipal offices and public spaces.
- Survey and removal of unused or dilapidated public toilets to align with Swachh Bharat and Maharashtra cleanliness initiatives.
In addition to the electric buses, PCMC is collaborating with Pune Municipal Corporation for the procurement of 100 EV and 100 CNG buses, contributing to cleaner air and sustainable urban transportation.
