Pimpri, August 28, 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is strengthening its Fire Department control room with advanced systems to ensure quicker citizen response during emergencies.

Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil, who reviewed the department’s preparedness, stressed that the focus must remain on faster communication, reduced response time, and seamless coordination between control room operators and rescue teams.

The upgraded control room now uses digital technology to streamline the process. When an emergency call is received, a digital form automatically appears on the operator’s screen, capturing vital details such as the location, type of incident, possible casualties, and caller’s contact number.

This data is instantly transmitted to the nearest fire station, enabling rescue units to reach the site without delay. Every call is recorded in the system for accountability and monitoring.

Jambhale Patil directed that all staff handling the control room must be trained thoroughly on the system so that the response is efficient and citizen-friendly. He further underlined the importance of planning team deployment based on the type of emergency, ensuring the right units are dispatched immediately.

In the context of the upcoming Ganesh festival, the Fire Department has been asked to keep all equipment in working order, verify fire safety compliance in pandals, and maintain active presence of teams at crowded areas. Citizens are being encouraged to make use of the control room helplines so that emergencies can be reported quickly. PCMC is also ensuring coordination with traffic, electricity, and other departments during festival days.

Preparedness for flood situations is also being reinforced. With Pavana, Indrayani, and Mula rivers flowing through the city and dams at near-full capacity, the Fire Department has kept its special ‘Jalpari’ vehicle and related rescue equipment on standby. Boats, life jackets, ropes, and other safety gear have been tested to ensure immediate deployment. Teams are tasked with closely monitoring riverbanks and low-lying areas to prevent loss of life in case of sudden water release.

By upgrading its technology and tightening coordination across departments, PCMC aims to ensure that its emergency response system remains proactive, reliable, and capable of protecting citizens during both festivals and natural calamities.
