Pet Dispute Turns Violent In Pune: Woman's Thumb Bitten Amid Fight With Neighbor In Lonikand (Representational Image)
Three members of a family in Praniti Park have been booked by Lonikand police for a violent assault on another family, sparked by a complaint about their pet dog. The altercation occurred on August 1 at plot number 6 in Avhalwadi.
According to the FIR, the complainant approached the accused, expressing concern that their pet dog had caused an infection to his elder son. Fearing the infection might spread to his five-day-old newborn, he urged the dog owners to take action. The accused, however, responded with violence.
The FIR states that the accused attacked the complainant’s mother with wooden sticks, causing injuries to her leg and head. In a particularly brutal act, one of the accused bit her right thumb, resulting in a severe injury. Additionally, they kicked the complainant’s wife in the stomach and threatened to kill her.
The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 115, 118(1), 117, 352, 351(2), and 3(5).
Investigating officer Vijay Dhumal confirmed the details of the incident, noting that the accused took grave offense at the complainant’s request regarding their dog. “The accused are yet to be arrested,” he added.
This incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the potential for extreme and violent reactions in disputes involving pets. The police are continuing their investigation and are expected to make arrests soon.
