Pimpri-Chinchwad: State Election Commission Approves Final Ward Structure For PCMC Polls; Three Key Changes Announced
Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 8, 2025: A major step toward the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) general elections has been completed as the State Election Commission officially approved the final ward structure on Monday. With this approval, preparations for the civic polls have gained momentum.
The election will be held based on the 2017 ward structure, maintaining 32 wards and 128 corporator seats across the city.
Earlier, on August 22, the municipal corporation had published a draft of 32 wards under a four-member system, which received numerous objections and suggestions. Hearings were conducted on September 10, and after reviewing the feedback, Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh submitted the revised proposal to the Urban Development Department on September 15.
The final structure includes three significant updates:
- Ward 10: Added names of Annasaheb Magar Nagar, Tipu Sultan Nagar, BSNL area, and MIDC Office Chinchwad to the official boundary description.
- Ward 11: Included Bhimshakti Nagar in the defined limits.
- Ward 26: Officially included Wakad in the final jurisdiction.
The approved ward structure will soon be published in the government gazette, on the PCMC website, and displayed at the municipal headquarters and regional offices for public access.
In the 2017 PCMC election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 77 seats, NCP 36, Shiv Sena 9, Independents 5, and MNS 1, with five independents later extending support to the BJP.
