Pimpri-Chinchwad To Introduce Climate Budget For Sustainable Development: Chandrakant IndalkarÂ
Pimpri, December 2, 2024: Addressing the changing global climate and its impact on the environment and humanity, Additional Commissioner Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Chandrakant Indalkar emphasized the need to incorporate an environmental budget into regular financial planning to enhance citizens’ quality of life.
Under the guidance of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is set to present an environmental budget alongside the regular budget starting in 2025-26. To equip officials and staff with necessary knowledge, training sessions have been organized at G.D. Madgulkar Auditorium in Akurdi, beginning today.
Indalkar highlighted that, globally, comprehensive efforts are being made to maintain and conserve the environment, and India has also signed several international agreements. In line with this, Pimpri-Chinchwad, an industrial hub, will present an environmental budget for sustainable development. The goal is to balance the city’s environment and improve citizens’ living standards.
The training, held from December 4-6, will focus on incorporating environmental aspects into city development projects and programs, ensuring necessary financial provisions for sustainability. The session aims to guide officials in creating an environmentally balanced and prosperous future for the city.
Key figures present include Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Pravin Jain, Deputy Chief Accounts Officer Anand Gaikwad, and environmental experts.
