Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has over 6.3 lakh registered properties, including residential, industrial, non-residential, mixed, and open lands. The Tax Assessment and Collection Department is responsible for collecting taxes from these property owners. The department has compiled comprehensive data on defaulters, and in a recent meeting, issued directives to administrative and regional officers for taking action. A list of defaulters with pending taxes exceeding ₹5 lakh has been distributed, and a three-phase action plan has been outlined.

In the first phase, officers have been instructed to retrieve the “7/12 extract” and property cards for defaulters with over ₹5 lakh in dues within 10 days. These details will be sent to local authorities, who will register the outstanding dues on the property records. Assistant Commissioner Avinash Shinde emphasized that this action should be completed within the stipulated time.

Phase Two: Swift Property Seizure
To date, 3.72 lakh property owners have paid ₹507 crore in taxes. However, ₹725 crore in back taxes remains unpaid, with ₹45.78 crore still owed by partial taxpayers. Additionally, ₹233 crore from the current year’s demand is pending, along with ₹84.8 crore from partial payments. Among defaulters, 2,022 property owners owe more than ₹5 lakh each, amounting to a total of ₹280.68 crore. If these amounts are not settled within 10 days, PCMC will initiate property seizure.
