Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the improvisation to set up 10 new medical colleges in Maharashtra, marking a significant milestone in the state’s medical education landscape. The colleges, approved by the Central Medical Commission, will provide medical education in the Marathi language, fulfilling the long-standing demand of the state’s youth.

The new medical colleges will be located in Thane, Mumbai, Nashik, Jalna, Buldhana, Hingoli, Washim, Amravati, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli. This development is expected to benefit lakhs of people in the state and create 900 more medical posts. PM Modi expressed his belief that the youth of Maharashtra will now be able to fulfill their dream of becoming doctors by studying in their mother tongue.

In addition to the medical colleges, PM Modi also performed the Bhumi Pujan of the cargo runway and terminal building of Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport and the terminal building of Shirdi Airport through a television system. This move is expected to give a major boost to regional development, with Nagpur airport set to emerge as a growth engine for Vidarbha. According to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the airport will facilitate 100 flights and handle 1.4 lakh passengers and 9 lakh tonnes of cargo annually.

Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari praised the development, stating that he will monitor every aspect of the airport’s work like a supervisor. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis added that the cargo runway and terminal building will make Nagpur airport world-class. PM Modi also took the opportunity to criticize the Congress, labeling it an “irresponsible party” that spreads hatred in society, citing the recent election results in Haryana as evidence of the country’s shifting sentiments.

PM Modi emphasized that the central government has overcome the deficiency of medical education materials in regional languages. This initiative aims to make medical education more accessible and convenient for the youth of Maharashtra. With the inauguration of these medical colleges, Maharashtra takes a significant step towards a healthier future, with improved medical facilities and increased opportunities for medical professionals.
