Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binawade, Health Officer Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, and other health officials met on Thursday to plan a course of action in response to the JN.1 variant of the Covid virus. The meeting’s main goal was to guarantee the health system’s proficiency by taking careful safety measures.

There are currently seven confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pune city, and 150 tests are being performed every week by the health authorities. A laboratory has been tasked with testing a patient’s blood sample, and hospitals throughout the city have been instructed to closely monitor any suspected cases.

The approach emphasizes how crucial it is to collect throat secretion samples from people who exhibit symptoms and test them. A senior PMC health department official emphasized that the Municipal Corporation’s Health Department recently carried out a “mock drill” to evaluate the preparedness of the ICU’s beds, oxygen supply, medication stocks, and labor.

A senior PMC health department official said that not a single patient infected with the JN.1 virus of Covid has been found in the city. The health department is taking appropriate action with diligence. A mock drill was recently held, and it is evident that they have all the necessary facilities. People should remain calm and take the appropriate safety measures.
