PMPML Introduces AC Electric Tourist Bus Service On Pune-Lonavala Route
Pune, July 19, 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has expanded its popular tourist bus initiative by launching Route No. 11 on Friday morning. Three eco-friendly, air-conditioned electric buses were flagged off from Swargate bus stand by PMPML Chairperson and Managing Director Deepa Mudhol-Munde at 8:30 am, in the presence of senior officials and staff.
The new service received an overwhelming response on its inaugural run, with 99 passengers onboard, including a significant number of women travelers. “This initiative continues to get an excellent response, especially from women. I encourage more citizens to use this safe, affordable, and eco-conscious travel option,” Mudhol-Munde said during the launch.
Route No. 11 covers: Swargate – Deccan Gymkhana – Ekvira Devi Temple – Karla Caves – Lonavala Railway Station (tourists can visit nearby attractions like Bhushi Dam, Manashakti Dhyan Kendra, and Wax Museum at their own expense) – and returns to Swargate.
- Fare: ₹500 per passenger
- Booking Points: PMPML pass centers at Deccan Gymkhana, Pune Station, Swargate, Katraj, Hadapsar Gadi Tal, Pune Municipal Bhavan, Nigdi, and Bhosari.
- Special Offer: Groups booking an entire 33-seater bus will get 5 complimentary seats.
To enhance accessibility, passengers can use PMPML buses to travel from their homes to the departure point and back on the same day with their tourist ticket. A guide will accompany each bus to provide information about destinations en route.
PMPML currently operates tourist services across 11 fixed routes, covering religious sites and popular attractions around Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Initially limited to weekends and public holidays, the service will now run daily based on demand.
