Pune, May 31, 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML) will implement a revised, distance-based fare system for its bus services starting June 1, 2025, across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the PMRDA region.

This change is being introduced to bring greater operational consistency and administrative efficiency. The revision follows the guidelines of the Maharashtra Government Gazette dated March 31, 2018, and aligns with similar fare adjustments made by transport bodies such as MSRTC, BEST, and Nagpur city bus services.

According to PMPML, the new fare system will categorize routes into 11 stages for travel distances between 1 km and 80 km, with stages set at intervals of 5 and 10 kilometers. These changes will be applicable to both regular ticket fares and commuter passes.

Highlights of the Fare Restructuring:

  • ₹900 Monthly Pass (single municipal zone): Will remain valid only up to its expiry after June 1, 2025.
  • ₹1200 Monthly Pass (both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad zones): Will be valid until the end date of the pass after the new fare rollout.
  • Student Passes (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual, and punching): Will continue to be issued with 50% concession under the existing fare system.
  • No revisions have been made to fare rates for senior citizen daily/monthly passes and PMRDA monthly passes.

PMPML has requested passengers to take note of the new structure and cooperate with conductors and staff during the transition period.
