In a major step toward boosting youth employment, the BJP-led central government has rolled out a new employment initiative that offers financial assistance of ₹15,000 to young individuals landing their first job. The program, named the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY), aims to make entry into the workforce smoother for the country’s youth while simultaneously supporting employers who create new job opportunities.

The PMVBRY portal is now live, allowing eligible candidates and job providers to register and begin availing the scheme’s benefits. This move comes just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially introduced the initiative during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

With a projected expenditure of nearly ₹1 lakh crore, the Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana is being implemented in two key phases:

1. Support for New Employees:

Young people who secure their first job between July 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027, will receive ₹15,000 in financial support from the government.

2. Incentives for Employers:

Organizations or employers who hire first-time job seekers will also be eligible for financial incentives, further encouraging job creation.

The scheme was officially approved by the Union Cabinet on July 1, 2025, with a sanctioned budget of ₹99,446 crore. The objective is ambitious: to facilitate the creation of over 3.5 crore new jobs in just two years, with a special emphasis on employment growth in the manufacturing sector, alongside other industries.

₹15,000 for First-Time Job Seekers — Here’s How It Will Be Paid

Under this scheme, newly employed individuals will receive ₹15,000 in two installments, aimed at easing the transition into the workforce. The payment will be made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using the Aadhaar-Based Payment System (ABPS) — ensuring that funds are deposited securely and directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Employers to Get Monthly Incentives of Up to ₹3,000 Per Employee

To encourage companies to onboard fresh talent, the government will provide a monthly incentive of up to ₹3,000 for every new eligible employee they hire. This amount will be directly credited to the employer’s PAN-linked bank account.

How to Register: Step-by-Step Process for Job Seekers and Employers

Both first-time job seekers and employers must register to access the benefits of this initiative. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared that registration can be done through the official PMVBRY portals:

Alternatively, the scheme is also accessible through the ‘UMANG’ mobile app. First-time employees can enter their Universal Account Number (UAN) on the app to sign up. If they don’t already have a UAN, they must generate one using the Face Authentication Technology (FAT) available within the UMANG app.

This step ensures secure identity verification while simplifying the enrollment process for young professionals starting their careers.
