Pre-Monsoon Rains to Lash Maharashtra for Five Days, IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Several Districts

Thunderstorms with Gusty Winds Likely Across Multiple Maharashtra Districts: IMD Issues Alert
Maharashtra is set to experience a spell of pre-monsoon activity over the next five to six days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Rising humidity and fluctuating temperatures are giving way to light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across various parts of the state.
The IMD has forecast rainfall across all four meteorological subdivisions of Maharashtra. While the showers may not cause a major drop in maximum temperatures, interior regions are likely to witness a 1–2°C dip over the next few days, followed by a gradual rise.
Favorable conditions for the southwest monsoon are beginning to form over the southeastern Arabian Sea, Maldives, and parts of the southern Bay of Bengal. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation that was earlier located over Konkan has now moved to north interior Karnataka. This system is expected to influence weather conditions across Maharashtra.
In the Konkan-Goa belt and Mumbai (excluding Palghar), residents can expect moderate rain and thunderstorms. Central Maharashtra, as well as Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv in the Marathwada region, are also forecasted to receive similar rainfall. Vidarbha may see isolated rain with gusty winds. The IMD has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for multiple districts, urging residents to remain cautious.
Pune and surrounding areas are likely to experience pre-monsoon rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds over the next four days. The IMD continues to monitor the developments and advises citizens to stay alert and follow weather updates.
