The fire broke out shortly after the bus descended from the Waghjai Temple area on the highway. Eyewitnesses reported that flames erupted suddenly, prompting the driver to stop the vehicle immediately and assist passengers in exiting.
Thanks to the prompt response of the driver, cleaner, and passengers, everyone was able to evacuate without injuries. Emergency services, including the IRB (Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Department) and the local fire brigade, arrived at the scene soon after the alarm was raised.
Though the fire was eventually brought under control, the bus was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived and was reduced to ashes.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions on the highway, leading to long queues as authorities worked to clear the area. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials yet to provide details on potential mechanical failures or other contributing factors. Further updates on the investigation are awaited.
