Pune: 1200 MM Diameter Water Pipeline Damaged In Sant Tukaram nagar During Metro Work; Residents Urged To Use Water Sparingly
Pimpri, September 25, 2025: During ongoing metro work in Sant Tukaramnagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad for Pimpri-Nigdi metro line, a sudden impact damaged the main 1200 mm diameter water pipeline that supplies water to the municipal pumping zone, leading to a major leak. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Water Supply Department has deployed teams on a war footing to control and repair the leakage. Authorities have appealed to residents to use water judiciously until supply is restored.
Efforts are being made to complete the repair work urgently and restore water supply by tomorrow morning (September 26). Due to this work, water supply will remain shut throughout today (September 25) in the following areas: Chikhli, Talawade, Nehrunagar, Sant Tukaramnagar, Maheshnagar, Kudalwadi, Shahunagar, Ajantnagar, Mhetrevasti, Triveninagar, Jadhavwadi, Borhade Wadi and surrounding localities.
The civic body has requested residents to manage and conserve available water carefully during this period.
“Pipeline repair work is being carried out on a war footing, and the Water Supply Department is striving to restore supply at the earliest. Citizens are urged to use water sparingly.”
