Pune: 35 Year Old Man Killed In Chandan Nagar After Allegedly Telling Accused’s Aunt ‘I Love You’

Pune, August 13, 2025: A brutal murder took place in the Ambedkar Vasti area of Chandan Nagar, Pune, following a petty dispute. Two youths allegedly killed 35-year-old Sainath alias Khalibali Dattatray Janrao after he reportedly told one of the accused’s aunts, “I love you.” Enraged by the remark, the accused attacked him with a hockey stick and kicked and punched him until he succumbed to his injuries. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 12, at around 8:30 p.m.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sonya alias Aditya Santosh Walhekar (21) and Samarth alias Pappu Karan Sharma (22). Based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Rahul Girme, a case has been registered at Chandan Nagar Police Station under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne, police initially received information about an unidentified dead body. Investigation revealed the deceased to be Sainath Janrao, and the post-mortem confirmed death due to assault, after which a murder case was registered.

Further inquiry found that Janrao had allegedly teased Walhekar’s aunt and told her “I love you.” Infuriated, the accused beat him with a hockey stick and repeatedly kicked and punched him, leaving him severely injured. He died at the spot. Interestingly, Walhekar himself had called the police to report that “a person has fallen,” but the investigation revealed that he and his friend were behind the killing. Both have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
