Pune Accident: Container Carrying Heavy Iron Rods Crashes at Chandni Chowk; Rods Pierce Driver’s Cabin
Pune, June 12 —Another tragic accident occurred at Pune’s Chandni Chowk, where a container truck transporting heavy iron rods met with a serious mishap. The rods from the rear of the truck forcefully pierced through the driver’s cabin, leading to the immediate death of one person, while another sustained critical injuries. The injured individual has been rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The accident, which occurred as the truck was heading towards Mumbai, resulted in significant traffic congestion in the area. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
What Happened?
The video shows a large transport truck loaded with long iron rods typically used at construction sites. According to initial reports, the truck was travelling through Chandni Chowk when the driver suddenly applied the brakes. Due to the momentum and improper securing of the rods, the heavy iron bars lunged forward and pierced directly into the driver’s cabin.
As a result, the driver and his assistant were trapped inside the cabin, surrounded by the metal rods. Passersby stopped at the scene and some local youths attempted to help by pulling the rods out of the cabin. However, removing them proved extremely difficult due to their size and weight.
Rescue Operations Underway
Police and fire brigade teams were immediately alerted and arrived at the site. Rescue operations are ongoing at a war footing to safely extract the two individuals stuck in the cabin one died on the spot. Meanwhile, efforts are also being made to ease the heavy traffic congestion caused by the incident.
