Pune, May 2 — Responding to public backlash, the Pune airport administration has updated the signage of the newly launched Udaan Yatri Café to include Marathi, alongside Hindi and English. The move comes two days after social media users criticized the omission of the regional language from the nameboard. Though now written in Marathi language, netizens have asked to write in correct Marathi language.

The absence of Marathi — the official language of Maharashtra — on a prominent facility at the Pune airport triggered widespread criticism online, with several users demanding immediate corrective action. The issue quickly gained traction, leading to calls for inclusivity and adherence to regional language norms.

Following the uproar, the Airport Authority acted swiftly. After the issue was raised by social activists the airport authorities displayed the signages in three languages, Marathi, Hindi and English.

The updated signage is now in place, and airport officials have assured that similar measures will be implemented across other areas to maintain linguistic inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of respecting local languages in public infrastructure.
