Pune Airport Climbs in Global Rankings, Earns Praise for Passenger Experience in Latest ACI-ASQ Survey
Passengers flying in and out of Pune International Airport are beginning to notice a difference — and now, global rankings reflect it too. In a significant boost for the city’s aviation hub, Pune Airport has jumped two places in the worldwide Airport Service Quality (ASQ) rankings, moving up from 59th to 57th position for the April-June quarter.
The ASQ rankings, conducted jointly by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Airport Council International (ACI), are part of a quarterly global survey that captures real-time passenger feedback on airport services. These surveys measure the overall travel experience across 31 categories — ranging from cleanliness and food options to staff behavior and how well the airport responds during delays.
According to airport authorities, this improvement is the result of continued efforts to enhance infrastructure and service quality — especially since the opening of the new terminal. The upgraded facility has boosted the airport’s capacity to handle both domestic and international flights, drawing more travellers and placing Pune Airport among India’s busiest.
Airport Director Santosh Dhoke shared insights into the changes being implemented behind the scenes. “We’re focusing on consistency and responsiveness. Our teams meet regularly to review service quality, and we’ve instructed all departments to step up support during peak hours and delays,” he said. “Our goal is to make sure every passenger feels taken care of.”
These internal changes haven’t gone unnoticed by frequent flyers. Ananya Mehta, a business traveller who has used Pune Airport for the past five years, described the shift as “remarkable.” “The new terminal has made a huge difference,” she said. “It’s more spacious, cleaner, and the staff are much more helpful. During a recent delay, the airline team actually came around with refreshments and updates — that’s never happened before. It really feels like they care now.”
The ASQ survey takes into account a wide array of services and facilities that matter to travellers: restrooms, hygiene, signage, dining and retail options, the friendliness of airport staff, and even how swiftly complaints are handled. Improvements in these areas have played a major role in Pune Airport’s improved global standing.
