Pune Airport Sets New Record With 212 Flight Operations In A Day

Pune: IAF To Handover 13 Acres To Pune Airport By September; Expansion To Ease Flight Congestion
Pune Airport achieved a new milestone on Sunday, June 1, by handling 212 flight operations in a single day—the highest in its history. This surpasses its previous record of 208 flights set on January 12 earlier this year. The day saw 106 arrivals and 106 departures, with over 36,000 passengers travelling through the airport to domestic and international destinations.
All operations were on Sunday and executed smoothly. This is a very encouraging indicator of Pune Airport’s steady growth in air traffic. The record reflects increasing demand and the city’s rising importance as a key aviation hub.
Pune Airport, located at Lohegaon, currently connects to 35 domestic and three international destinations, including Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore. The seamless execution of such a high number of flights without major delays or operational issues was credited to efficient airport management and ground coordination.
Airport authorities are confident that flight movements will continue to increase as more routes are added and existing ones get more frequent.
According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), more than 18,000 passengers arrived in Pune from major cities such as Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata, while an equal number departed to destinations across India and abroad.
