Pune: Ajit Pawar Orders FIRs Against Those Blocking Drains In Hinjawadi
Pimpri, July 14, 2025: Illegal constructions obstructing natural drains in Hinjewadi’s Rajiv Gandhi IT Park area are the primary reason for recent flooding, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated during a review meeting at the PMRDA office. He instructed officials from PMRDA, MIDC, and local bodies to take immediate action to remove these encroachments and file cases under IPC Section 353 against those obstructing administrative work.
On Sunday, Pawar visited 15 locations in the IT Park area to assess traffic congestion and waterlogging caused by heavy rains. During the subsequent meeting at the PMRDA’s Akurdi office, Pawar issued key directives:
- Accelerate work on Pune Metro Line 3.
- Remove unauthorized structures in drains and restore natural water flow.
- Investigate and act against those altering drain courses.
- Clear garbage from areas where it has accumulated.
- Prepare a plan for new roads in Hinjewadi to ease traffic congestion.
- Ensure coordination among all agencies.
PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase assured that unauthorized drain encroachments will be demolished within a month using 50 machines and a large workforce, stressing that no political or external pressure will be entertained during the action.
Meanwhile, MP Supriya Sule will meet Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar on Monday to discuss infrastructure issues in Hinjewadi and suggest solutions.
