Pune | July 28, 2025 – Amid speculation about large-scale layoffs at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), CEO K Krithivasan has addressed employees directly via email, outlining the company’s vision for transformation and workforce restructuring.

As of June 30, 2025, TCS had a global workforce of 6,13,069, with an addition of 5,000 employees in the April-June quarter alone. However, recent reports indicated that TCS may lay off around 12,000 employees globally—approximately 2% of its total workforce.

Responding to these reports, Krithivasan confirmed that the workforce restructuring would primarily impact employees in middle and senior management roles. “We understand that this is a challenging time for our colleagues who are likely to be affected. We thank them for their service and will ensure they receive appropriate support — including outplacement, counselling, and transition benefits,” he said.

Krithivasan emphasized that the move is part of a broader strategy to make TCS a “future-ready organisation.” This includes investments in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud, cybersecurity, IoT, and enterprise solutions. The company is also exploring new markets, scaling AI adoption for clients and internal operations, and overhauling its delivery and innovation infrastructure.

“While this is a difficult decision, it reflects our responsibility to anticipate future needs and act decisively,” he noted. “We are committed to building a stronger TCS for our associates, clients, and all stakeholders.”

For TCS employees in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad — key hubs for the IT giant — the announcement comes as a reassurance amid uncertainty, with leadership affirming efforts to support those impacted during this transition.
